Criticism of the editorial with Vučić, Rama: There is no
Edi Rama

Prime Minister Edi Rama , at the press conference, was also asked about the editorial with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on EU enlargement and membership without veto rights in the Union, for which he faced criticism.

According to him, it is not about giving up EU membership, as he has accused the DP, which he described as an association of Molotov cocktails.

He also ironized the fact that the Democrats have referred to the statements of the Germans, who have been highly critical of the government on the issue of corruption and political protection for Belinda Balluku.

Part of Rama's speech:  It is unfortunate but I do not feel sorry for the association of Molotov cocktails that you call the DP, because they are in another world, they have no connection at all with today's world of international labor relations to join the EU, but one thing is certain that I was the first voice, not today but for several years, that was raised for a different approach to membership. I have never said, and neither has the damned editorial, I am not naming those who in Kosovo and Albania have cursed, it does not say anywhere about the resignation from EU membership. On the contrary. This is a topic that requires a little in-depth understanding to understand what we are talking about.

I said that the EU member states, some of them do not have the capacity to cope with the last moment. To go before their people and say that we are taking another one into our family if they do not have the opportunity to argue for some opinions that are against enlargement. What can happen is that all things are ready, they have always had this difficulty, they may not find this capacity. Which means that the process may be held hostage.

Plus, the dynamics of the EU are unpredictable due to internal political dynamics. In 2027, there are elections in France, which is a key country. France ratifies the membership of a new member state in the EU with 2/3 of the parliament, or by popular referendum.  France is in a situation where it cannot form a majority government, plus it is not known what approach the president will have when elected. Not to wait for things to become a fact and then stay, but to work in this direction. When I was talking about this, no one supported it, today there are quite a few who see this approach with interest.  As for listening to the Molotovs, since they have started to speak on behalf of Berlin, let them go and speak there and ask whether it is worth fighting for this work or to shut up because we are completely out of the game. I know what they will tell you.
