At the ceremony taking place at the Brigades Palace to celebrate the 105th anniversary of Tirana's declaration as the capital, Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke at length about the imprisonment of Erion Veliaj on the orders of SPAK.
Rama also touched on the investigation that SPAK has launched against his party's MP, Klotilda Bushka.
Rama stated that MP Bushka learned from the media that she is a person under investigation, while she has never been questioned by prosecutors regarding this matter.
Prime Minister Rama has described these actions by prosecutors as signs of a disease of complacency, while emphasizing that we are not a Republic of Prosecutors.
"The Chairwoman of the Laws Committee has asked to be heard in the Parliamentary Group, because she heard it from TV, not from the prosecutor. From special journalists who have documents that even the accused, who is a suspect, does not have, the Chairwoman of the Laws Committee."
"For a suspect to find out on TV that his name is in the indictment and never be asked... what is this? These are not good signs at all and I hope that they are signs that are not related to the symptoms of a complacent disease. This is not a Republic of Prosecutors. It would be the biggest own goal, " said Edi Rama.
