Blendi Fevziu and Edi Rama

Journalist Blendi Fevziu has reacted to Prime Minister Edi Rama's post about the debate that ministers leave tapes for the media as if they are at work and go on trips.

Through a long post on social media, Fevziu says he is surprised that in the midst of the extraordinary situation with the floods, the fire at the "May 5" market, or the political crisis, the head of government chose to focus on this issue.

While standing by his statements that ministers are not accountable to the press, he also admits the 'mistake' that the media makes, while adding that Rama's ministers put on a show on the ground due to the impotence of ideas, lack of charisma and crippled personality.

Full post:

The Albanian Prime Minister was disturbed by a fragment of yesterday's show on Opinion, where his ministers and directors were seen walking through flooded areas, chatting to themselves. Yes, yes, to themselves, looking each other in the eye, followed by a ministry cameraman walking backwards.

These images, broadcast live almost everywhere, were for me not only a moral disgrace, but also a kind of irresponsibility, which today's ministers come from the impotence of ideas, lack of charisma and crippled personality. But I will not dwell on this point, because it deserves a separate article. And the last few weeks have been full of stories that could be told about this...

I was surprised that, with 1/3 of Albania under water; with a fire that consumed millions of dollars of Tirana's small merchants; with the parliamentary crisis caused by SPAK's request to change the security measures against a member of the Cabinet and by accusations of problems in the ANA, the only problem that deserved controversy were the ministers' TV appearances.

Yes, the appearances on every screen of ministers chatting to themselves, or carrying office discussions to some corner of Albania, wasting time they should be dedicating to citizens, is truly an ugliness. Most of them do not accept journalists, they edit the news with their teams and we follow them without any possibility of verification. So yesterday, I put together with their image that of the President of the US or the Attorney General, showing that everywhere, statesmen are accountable to the press, not to the ministry cameraman.

Even more ugly is the fact that these chronicles are broadcast several days later, when their protagonists are in other commitments or are not in Albania at all. If you want an example, just remember how Veliaj was at a “live” Municipality event, when BKH took him from his office. Viewers no longer understood the news that came to them with the announcement of the arrest, while he continued to speak on the screen. The same thing has happened when other ministers have been in Vienna or the Emirates and meanwhile appeared on the screen.

But I agree with you: this doesn't matter. Two "fakes" matter:

The first is that the accountability of ministers to the press is zero, yes zero.

Second, that the press is more responsible than the ministers who broadcast their chronicles. Yes, the responsibility is OURS!

Meanwhile, Rama's post and the messages I received made me understand better why Albanian society has an impasse that many other societies have overcome. Unfortunately, Rama was a victim of his government's mentality. While rummaging through my Instagram profile, he had seen my posts from the last few days during a trip to South America. The trip took place in August, when we were on vacation, while I published the additional video posts these days.

So, they were like the videos of his ministers, but with one essential difference: I have never had, in the last 33 years, a public employee; I am not paid by citizens' taxes and I am not obligated to answer to them. And I can post whenever I want, because I am not lying to anyone. Especially since most of them are marked "August 2025".

I am a free citizen, who builds my life as I want. God grant that I have built it well. When Rama is also free, he will understand that this life of mine is more interesting than the one he has chosen, and which – he knows very well – I have rejected more than once. Whether I made a mistake or not, it matters little. And I continue to reject it.

Finally, I was blown away by the comments and people's curiosity about why they had turned me back from Venezuela. Dear followers, I don't know why Rama chose Venezuela – a matter of subconsciousness – but he was joking. And he said himself that he was joking. Don't take the mockery and jokes as truth, because then the problem is not the one who makes the jokes, but the one who believes them and turns them into a topic of conversation.

The last category of this post are the "conspiracy theorists." Those who said "don't answer because it distracts them," or who said it's a strategy to divert attention.

Ladies and gentlemen, if a discussion about how ministers should appear on TV attracts more attention than your worries and problems, then the problem is not Rama, but YOU!

The last one: Rama knows very well what the press's confrontation with politics has been like. And perhaps he is still the only one who still has the courage to confront journalists or interview them on TV shows. So I am waiting for him in the studio with four of yesterday's panelists, to talk about everything that concerns him. At least until now, Rama has not had the habit of his subordinates, who seek to appoint the journalists with whom they will appear on TV. If he comes, it is good that he comes...
