Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha today gathered his DP supporters in Tirana, in a meeting where he raised the alarm about the "existential" situation in which this political force is located.
Berisha has apparently warned of a new opposition action, saying that he is facing the government's decisions that make the opposition represented by him "unsatisfactory".
"The cup is pouring", said Berisha, while earlier during the meeting with Gazment Bardhin, the deputies supporting Berisha have proposed boycotting the institutions until going on a hunger strike.
Part of Berisha's speech:
First, I want to greet you, as the leader of the DP branches for Tirana and all our members and supporters, in Tirana and throughout Albania.
I called this meeting with you, as PD and the opposition entered a new phase. To tell the truth in a new battle, which is imposed by conditions and circumstances that have never existed for the Albanian opposition in 30 years. The opposition, the PD, went through one of the most difficult periods of its existence and as a political force in these last 2 years, although today it carries with it all the great transformations of Albania in decades.
She and her supporters face an all-round repression of their legal, constitutional rights, with a real aggression from the government, which aims and has aimed not to annihilate her completely, has aimed to turn her into a worthless political force , or in one of its facades. None of what I say is that you don't know and the citizens don't know. But there is a moment when in the simple language of the people it is said, the cup is overflowing.
After our survival, I am not making the history of these two years, after the massive violation of the elections, Edi Rama, with a series of de facto political decisions, makes the opposition in the parliament uneasy. So, we as representatives of those 600,000 citizens who on May 14, I'm not talking about April 21, did not vote for the government, but against it, we de facto go to the parliament today as never before in the history of the parliament, actually in the political plane peace.
