In his speech at the session where his appeal for dismissal from office was considered, the former mayor emphasized that his isolation was imposed by the state.

"A job from which those who wanted to see me with handcuffs on my hands and not with a shovel in my hands treacherously distance themselves. You can imprison a person, but not the truth," said Veliaj.
