The "Vlora" ship and the post of Ramma


On 8 August 1991 thousands of Albanians set off from the coast of Durres on the ship "Vlora" for a better life to Italy.

The event is perpetuated in the memory of Albanians as a tragic story of a people suffered during the years of dictatorship that left behind the homeland to start a new life full of challenges and sacrifices in emigration. About 20,<> albanians were separated from their families that day.

But for Prime Minister Edi Rama, today history is upended. He posted a "meme" that he seems to enjoy laughing through tears, which shows how times have changed.

On one side, the ship "Vlora" is distinguished with thousands of Albanians and on the other side of the picture is the same ship.
The text and context changes. The left reads: "Albanians leave for Italy 1991". "Italians sail for Albania 2023"

"... "Wait, you haven't seen anything yet," Mr. Rama said.

Rama refers to the many Italian tourists who choose our country to spend the holidays. The photo was also labelled the Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera.
