The democratic party's leader, Lulzim Basha, says that he did not bring Argita Malltezi, daughter of Sali Berisha, as has often been talked about in the media and not only.
During an interview with several young people, Basha went further by saying that this is a "stigma" made up by his political opponents.
He said Sali Berisha knew him earlier than his daughter Argita, but when he appeared in politics, the opponents asked "who he is and where he came from", which according to Basha is the moment when the theory was born "brought by Berisha's vase".
Part of the statement:
My introduction to the PD by Argita Malltezi, as they say, is one of those stigmas initially invested by the political opponent. No, it's not true. Everything I said I believe demonstrates the opposite. I actually met Argita for the first time in Kosovo in the summer of 2000. I've known Sally since 91. I don't know him, but we've had dozens of occasions, meetings, contacts, I know him personally, so it's not true. But since you said it, I know when it came out and why it came out.
This came out at the moment when I was in active politics in Albania and they were saying where this came from, what is this? Because then like now, when a young actor was in, they had to find tails, hit him and so on and part of that was and this, "Berisha's daughter brought it". It was born with a political motive. And as I have that I don't deal with these things, it may have been built and reinforced the idea that came for this reason. It took on another dimension in 2011 where the only campaign that Edi Rama made unsuccessfully in the face of tirana municipality was to physically highlight me with Sali Berisha. It's part of the political fight.
