The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, says that MP Agron Gjekmarkaj was hit by police during the protest.

There were clashes earlier between MPs Gazment Bardhi, Luan Baçi and Flamur Noka who were confronted by police forces. It is unclear where Gjekmarkaj clashed with the police, and whether they hit him as Berisha claims.

The leader of the DP considered the police officers to be "criminals in uniform" and said that the order to strike Gjekmarkaj was given by Edi Rama.

"I will hold him personally responsible for the physical violence against the deputy speaker of parliament and the DP, Agron Gjekmarkaj," Berisha declared.
