From UEFA's player health strategy to artificial intelligence, anti-doping and rehabilitation, the international congress will bring together Albanian and foreign specialists. The program includes topics that connect scientific research with the concrete challenges of healthcare and sports performance.
Tirana will welcome from October 13 to 15, 2026 the MedSportTech International Congress, an event that aims to create a common platform for medicine, pharmacy, sports science, nutrition and technology.
The congress will take place at the MAK Albania Hotel, with three days of presentations, professional discussions and interactive sessions. Organized by Health & Sport Partners, in collaboration with the Chamber of Pharmacists of Albania, the event is taking place for the first time in the country.
The scientific agenda includes names such as Zoran Bahtijarević, Jaqueline Migon and Pedro Gonçalves, alongside Albanian specialists, including Prof. Suela Këlliçi, Delina Xhafaj, Altin Veshti, Megi Lekbello, Renta Sanxhaku and Oeda Lekaj.
The program also includes Angela Andreoli, Florian Toti, Alketa Bicja, Artida Avdiu and Diana Toma. The first day, on October 13, will be dedicated to health and sports performance.
One of the main topics will be UEFA's strategy to improve the health of top-level footballers, as well as the medical requirements for teams, officials and spectators. The programme also includes the impact of air pollution on cardiovascular disease, athlete heart assessment and emergency management, including sudden cardiac arrest during physical activity.
Attention will also be paid to the brain health of football players and the experience gained from UEFA's studies on injuries in elite football. In this way, the discussions aim to link scientific evidence with concrete measures of prevention and care for athletes.
On October 14, the focus will shift to sports pharmacy, anti-doping and technological innovation. Presentations will address the role of pharmacists and digital tools in doping prevention, the safe use of medicines and supplements, and the integration of artificial intelligence, biosensors and nanotechnology for personalized athlete recovery.
The program also includes nutrigenetics, personalized nutrition, and pharmacovigilance, i.e. monitoring of adverse drug effects. A topic of direct relevance to the health system is the prediction of drug shortages through data analysis.
The program also addresses the safety of sports supplements and the risks associated with their contamination or the presence of banned substances. The third day, on October 15, will be dedicated to rehabilitation and sports medicine, with discussions on orthopedic management of injuries, conservative or surgical treatment, and criteria for safe return to activity.
Beyond the exchange of knowledge, the congress aims to strengthen cooperation among professionals and promote the implementation of scientific innovations in daily practice.
The event is in the process of being accredited for nine credits by the Healthcare Quality Assurance Agency (HCQA). The full program and registration are available on the official event website: MedSportTech International Congress 2026.
