The Czech Republic will not participate in Eurovision 2027, after public broadcaster Ceska televize (ČT) announced that it is withdrawing from the contest.
According to ČT, the reason was budget cuts and increased production costs. The contest will also not be broadcast by the Czech public network.
ČT stressed that financial pressures and costs do not allow the country to participate in next year's contest.
"In light of ongoing budget adjustments, Czech Television has decided not to participate in the 2027 edition," the public broadcaster said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Czech public broadcaster left open the possibility of the country returning to Eurovision in the future.
Eurovision director Martin Green expressed his regret at the development, while stressing that he understood the difficult financial decisions that public broadcasters have to make.
