Modestly, I want to bring to your attention an episode from May of last year, when, on Erla Mëhilli's NOW show, I publicly declared that Chris LaCivita was a fraud!

I didn't say it out of any personal antipathy. Nor out of any connection to Rama, as they were quick to accuse me of. I said it because I had read something that many people didn't even want to hear, let alone understand.

That evening, I read a conversation between LaCivita and two people who had recorded it live in the studio. The conversation discussed the help he was giving to Australian conservatives. And, to illustrate his abilities, LaCivita brought up the Albanians as an example, who, according to him, were completely melted by his assistance!

So, the man that the DP sold to us as Trump's electoral wizard, in conversations with others, used us as an example of a clientele that he could easily impress.

It was clear to me that this man was neither a member of Trump's then-staff, nor his external advisor, as the DP propaganda presented us.

But in Albania the problem is that the truth doesn't matter unless the boss says it!

As soon as I said this, I was attacked by militants, journalists and politicians of the Democratic Party of Albania. They called me a "traitor sold out to Rama", "a criminal lawyer who doesn't have the face to call Trump's man a fraud" and many other labels, in addition to the occasional insult, from the usual arsenal of command-driven political thought.

Imagine the logic! Since I was a lawyer, I had no right to read a public conversation and draw my own conclusions about an American political consultant!

This is the logic of those who do not distinguish profession from conviction, argument from insult, and truth from party orders.

I simply read the contempt with which LaCivita spoke about the Albanians of the DP and, in a way, about all of us. Then I called him a thug and a fraud.

The only mistake I made was not telling him in English!

I even told Berisha himself in the studio that the man they were feeding us as a magician of American politics was a scoundrel.

For the sake of truth, Berisha did not oppose me. But the political intrigues and plots around him did not cease! The myth of LaCivita had to be protected at all costs. Because, at that time, LaCivita was not simply an electoral consultant. He had become a kind of American certificate of certain victory, an imaginary guarantee that Trump was with the DP and that power in Albania would change with Washington's blessing.

A political tale, which a good part of the DP believed with a devotion that even the most fanatical believer would envy!

They also sang "Bilbilat e Vrionit" to LaÇivita and Berisha. The title of this article is the lyrics to that ridiculous electoral song.

And now?!

Now Donald Trump himself had to speak out, denying, according to the reported statement, that LaCivita had worked for him and warning of intervention if his consultancies turned out to be fraudulent.

So, what I said while reading a conversation now has to be taken seriously just because it comes from Trump's mouth!

Now what should we do?! Should I return all the insults you've made against me?! Should I also call you traitors, sellouts, frauds, and all those epithets you bombarded me with just because I dared to think differently from you?!

In fact, you deserve it! Not because you insulted me. Your insults have never impressed me.

But because you refuse to think with your own mind! Because, for you, a fact is not a fact unless the president approves it. An argument is not an argument unless it matches the party's propaganda. A truth is not true until the order comes to believe it.

Yesterday LaCivita was Trump's genius and anyone who questioned him was an enemy of the DP. Today, if Trump denies it, I'm curious to see what will happen to your genius!

Will you declare him a fraud? Will you keep quiet? Or will you explain to us that Trump did not understand the question correctly?!

The problem is not LaCivita, no. He is a consultant who offers his services and wants to make money. After all, wherever he finds fools, he plays with religion.

The problem is the willingness to sell reason, just to avoid contradicting the boss!

This is why Albanian politics produces so many myths and so little thought. This is why political deception does not always need a great deceiver. Often a crowd that wants to be deceived at all costs is enough.
