Borussia Dortmund striker Karim Adeyemi has been fined 450,000 euros after the discovery of prohibited weapons in his and his partner Loredana Zefi's possession.
According to Bild, the incident dates back to about a year ago, when police found “two objects classified as prohibited weapons” in the couple’s belongings, leading to the opening of criminal proceedings. The German court imposed a hefty fine on Adeyemi, which will be paid in 60 installments of 7,500 euros.
Adeyemi has not commented publicly, while through manager Jorge Mendes, clarification has been given that the weapons were not purchased from them, but were part of a "mystery box" ordered through TikTok, a claim that legally does not change liability for possession.
Borussia immediately reacted with an official statement emphasizing that it is in constant communication with the player and the authorities, but has not confirmed whether internal disciplinary measures are expected.
The German Football Association (DFB) may review the matter, but a severe punishment is not expected, as the case involves possession and not use of weapons.
