A man who arrived in the UK by dinghy a week ago and was being held in a reception center has died.

The news was announced by the Interior Office. The release said the migrant fell ill while in the Kent detention center and was taken to hospital, but later died.

It is learned that he arrived on November 12 and fell ill on Friday evening.

"We can confirm that a person staying in Manston has died this morning (Saturday) in hospital after being unwell," a Home Office spokesman said, The Guardian reports.

"We would like to express our heartfelt condolences to all those affected. Until a post-mortem examination is carried out we cannot comment in detail, but at this stage there is no evidence to suggest that this tragic death was caused by an infectious disease. We take the safety and wellbeing of those in our care extremely seriously and offer 24/7 health facilities with trained medical staff in Manston,” the spokesperson said.

The age, identity or nationality of the passenger who lost his life in the British reception center is not yet known.
