In 2021, the band Coldplay announced a plan to minimize the carbon footprint of their tours by 50%. In their latest progress report, they reported that the first two years of the Music of the Spheres tour saw a 59% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, compared to their previous world tour.

They used technologies such as a dance floor that generates electricity when fans dance, limiting air travel. They also revealed that seven million saplings have been planted as part of their commitment to plant a tree for every fan who attends their concerts.

"As a band, we're still far from where we need to be," they said in a statement. "But we're grateful for everyone's help so far, and we salute everyone who is making an effort to get things moving in the right direction."

Coldplay's example has been followed by 'The 1975' and Billie Eilish, implementing greener options in their concerts and productions, promoting ecological solutions for the music industry.

Their environmental plan during their tours focuses on four points:

Solar panels, kinetic energy floors and stationary bikes to help power spaces;

Minimizing air travel, using sustainable fuels where flight is unavoidable;

Lighting with low energy consumption;

Landscaping with sustainable materials, such as bamboo.

Band leader Chris Martin said he wanted to prove that a sustainable tour was possible. He even emphasized that the group's decision to take an environmentally friendly stance is not hypocritical and does not serve special political interests.
