The Court of Appeal in the Specialized Chambers in The Hague has reduced by three months the sentence against the former leaders of the Organization of Veterans of the War of the Liberation Army of Kosovo (OVL-UÇK), Hysni Gucati and Nasim Haradinaj, from four and a half years to four years and three months.
The president of the Appellate panel said that the fine of 100 euros remains in force against Gucat and Haradinaj.
Gucati and Haradinaj in the first degree on May 18, 2022, were found guilty of obstructing official persons in the performance of official duties, intimidation during criminal proceedings and violation of the secrecy of proceedings.
They were sentenced to four and a half years in prison, where the time spent in custody will be counted, and to a fine of 100 euros for each. Meanwhile, they were released from criminal responsibility for revenge.
Hysni Gucati, together with Nasim Haradinaj, were accused of criminal offenses against the administration of justice, specifically for obstructing official persons in the performance of official duties, for intimidating witnesses, for revenge and for violating the secrecy of the proceedings.
Gucati and Haradinaj were accused of making disparaging comments against potential witnesses and repeatedly expressing their intention to harm the work of the Specialized Chambers, reports Telegrafi.
Gucati and Haradinaj were arrested in September 2020, after suspicions that they distributed classified documents of the Specialized Chambers at several media conferences at the OVL-UÇK headquarters in Pristina.
