Four presidents have faced this decision – whether or not to use military force on Iran: Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump.

Donald Trump is the only president who ultimately decided on military action, and this – regardless of how things go in the coming days – will be a crucial part of his political legacy.

The images taken in the Situation Room during the attack on Iran, like those of Barack Obama when he watched the raid on Osama bin Laden's compound in May 2011 or like those of George W. Bush who in 2003 gave the order to start the war in Iraq, will remain in history.

Unlike when Trump ordered the raid to kill Qassem Soleimani, the right-hand man of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, last night he was wearing a Make America Great Again hat.

Among the photos showing President Donald Trump and his group of advisors, one that stood out was that of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Army, General Dan Caine, who makes the sign of the horns as he looks across the table, while also being seen explaining the attack to those present with gestures.

The sign of the horns is widely used today in rock music, but it originated as a symbol of protection from evil, mainly used in Italy, but also other Mediterranean countries.
