A plane of the Jet2 company that was carrying out the Birmingham-Antalya flight a few days ago, made a forced landing in Thessaloniki due to the bad condition of the pilot.
While the plane was at an altitude of 30,000 feet, the flight attendants informed the passengers that the pilot had passed out.
The incident happened on August 23 as the plane took off from Birmingham Airport, but was not immediately reported.
A passenger on flight LS1239 told Birmingham Live that the chaos began when the plane experienced mid-flight turbulence.
"While we were all seated, we noticed something happening at the front of the plane. We thought someone was injured in the toilet while there was chaos," he said.
"We were told that we will land in Greece because of a medical emergency," he added.
A Jet2 spokesperson said of the incident: “Flight LS1239 from Birmingham to Antalya was diverted to Thessaloniki Airport as a precaution on Tuesday 23 August due to one of the pilots being unwell.
