Police in Stockton, California, released surveillance video Tuesday showing a "person of interest" they want to question in connection with a series of six murders, suggesting the perpetrator may be a serial killer.
The cases, which have terrified many in the city of 300,000, nearly a hundred kilometers east of San Francisco, were connected by the forensics officers who conducted, Stockton Police Chief Stanley McFadden explained during a press conference.
The murders, with the use of a firearm, were carried out between April 10 and September 27. Six people lost their lives. The seventh, a woman, survived.
"We don't know what the attacker's motive is," McFadden said, adding, however, that the killer appears to be "on a mission."
The police chief also said it was unclear whether the victims, men and women between the ages of 21 and 54, were related to each other. All were attacked in or around Stockton, except for the sole survivor, a 46-year-old woman who was attacked in Oakland.

Security camera footage released by Stockton police doesn't help much: it shows only the back of a man standing, whom McFadden described as a "person of interest." He crosses a corridor on the outside of a building, whether it's a mansion or a motel.
The chief of police hastened to clarify that there is no evidence that this man is the author of the murders, he said that his men just want to interrogate him at the moment as part of the ongoing investigations.
He invited viewers to notice the man's "uneven steps" and the raised posture of his torso. He added that a $125,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. (noa.al/MD)
