Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has sharply criticized the United States and Israel for their war on Iran, stating that the attacks were carried out "outside the framework of international law."

In a speech to the Italian Senate, Meloni described the missile attack on the Shajareh Tayyebeh girls' school in the southern Iranian city of Minab, which occurred on February 28, as a "massacre."

According to reports, more than 160 people, most of them children, were killed in the attack.

The Italian Prime Minister demanded that the United States reveal those responsible for the attack, while emphasizing that Italy has no intention of becoming involved in the conflict.

"This is an intervention in which Italy is not part and has no intention of participating," she declared to senators.

Meloni also added that, so far, the US has not requested the use of Italian air bases for military operations, but if such a request is made, it would have to be discussed and approved by the Italian parliament.

However, Meloni stressed that Iran should not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons, as such a development would have serious consequences for global security and for Europe.

Her comments could create tension with US President Donald Trump, with whom Meloni is considered to have had close political relations in the past. She was also one of the few European leaders to attend his second presidential inauguration.

According to Meloni, the conflict must also be seen in the context of a structural crisis of the international system, where unilateral interventions outside international law are becoming increasingly frequent, increasing global insecurity.
