Kremlin reacts to Trump's nuclear submarines: Care must be taken! Medvedev? Putin decides on foreign policy

"Moscow treats statements related to nuclear weapons with caution and believes that everyone should be careful on this issue."

This is the statement of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency, regarding US President Donald Trump's announcement of sending two nuclear submarines to areas "closer" to Russia.

The Kremlin has also stated that, when it comes to foreign policy, it is necessary to focus on the statements of President Vladimir Putin and not on those of other officials.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made these clarifications, commenting on the social media controversy between US President Donald Trump and the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev.

"The main thing, of course, is the position of President Putin. In our country, foreign policy is formulated by the head of state," Peskov stressed in response to a question about whether the Kremlin would advise Medvedev to tone down his foreign policy statements.

"In every country, members of the leadership have different views on current events. There are figures with very, very tough positions even in the United States and European countries, so it's always like that," the spokesman noted.

The clash between Medvedev and Trump came as the United States gave Russia until August 8 to end its war against Ukraine or face sanctions.

Medvedev told Trump that "every ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war. Not between Russia and Ukraine, but against his state."
