The United Nations organization says there is a fear that the number of victims from the floods in Libya will exceed 20,000.
Currently, more than 5,000 victims have been confirmed, while 2,000 dead bodies are still in the sea, after being swept away by the massive floods, catching residents mainly in the city of Derna by surprise.
The World Health Organization has announced the release of $2 million from its emergency fund for those affected in Libya.
The head of the organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, also announced that "28 tons of surgical and emergency supplies will arrive tomorrow at the logistics center set up in Dubai."
The United Nations has requested that a fund of 71.4 million dollars be raised immediately. According to the UN, 884,000 people were directly affected by the floods, while 2,200 buildings were damaged.
