When officials of the Montenegrin Supreme Court came to work on Monday, they discovered a hole in the wall of the warehouse where the evidence is kept. They immediately called the police, who discovered that the hole was actually the opening of a tunnel leading to a nearby apartment.
According to Montenegrin media, a rather large tunnel, the digging of which must have taken more than a month, leads from the court to an apartment in the basement of the building on the other side of Njegoševa Street in the Montenegrin capital.

It is also interesting what documents they found scattered in the room where the opening was discovered. According to the Montenegrin portal Vijesti.me, among the checked files was the one related to the case against a senior member of a known criminal clan.
Savic, however, believes that it was not an attempted robbery, but a preparation for an escape attempt, as there is also a room nearby where the defendants are brought and detained before entering the courtroom: "We suspect that the objective was access easy in courts and detention rooms", Savic said, adding that Supreme Court employees only found the opening of the tunnel in a well-hidden place.

An enterprise that requires manpower, machinery and money
Since the opening of such a tunnel is a rather large and dangerous undertaking, it seems clear that it requires funds, manpower and careful organization, which probably proves that it is the work of the mafia.
But the employees did not feel or hear anything, which calls into question the security of the court: "Even if there were 100 policemen around the building, they would not be able to prevent what is happening under the building", Savič said.
The investigation would certainly have been easier if the tool used to dig the tunnel had been found, but the unknown "miners" took all the equipment with them after the job was done. However, some items were found in the tunnel from which, investigators hope, the perpetrator's DNA material can be extracted.
