"We have strong ties" - Israeli President congratulates Kosovo on its 18th anniversary of independence

The President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, congratulated the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, on the 18th anniversary of Independence, emphasizing that the number 18 in Jewish tradition symbolizes life.

In his letter, he mentioned the fifth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the opening of the Kosovo Embassy in Jerusalem.

Herzog stressed that bilateral relations have strengthened even after the October 7 attack and expressed his expectation for the deepening of the partnership.

Your Excellency,

On behalf of the State of Israel and its citizens, I have the honor to convey my warmest congratulations on the occasion of the 18th anniversary of your Independence. In Jewish tradition, the number 18 represents “life” and is seen as a strong and positive omen.

In the five years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, we have managed to build a strong and enduring bond. We are grateful that your country chose to open its embassy in Jerusalem, a courageous decision that reflects your commitment to the State of Israel and its people.

Our bond has deepened further after the brutal attack of October 7 and its aftermath. Although these years have been filled with pain, sorrow and difficulties, we have nevertheless managed to strengthen our bilateral relations. I am confident that our partnership will continue to improve in the years to come.

Once again, on this day of pride and celebration, please accept my best wishes and sincere hopes for a year of peace and prosperity for the state of Kosovo and its people.
