Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti , in his speech in Parliament on the occasion of the 18th anniversary of independence, listed this date among the most important dates that mark the history of Albania and Kosovo.

He then focused on the trial in The Hague of the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, saying that they are facing unfair charges, just because they dared to take up arms for freedom.

He pointed the finger at Belgrade, saying that crimes against humanity against the Albanian population were 'committed by Milosevic's Serbia', while emphasizing that 'the threat of their repetition is Vu?i?'s Serbia'.

"On February 17, another high point was reached in our representation in the Balkans and Europe. Today is a day of remembrance for those who sacrificed for freedom."

Today we remember the peaceful resistance of 1990, we remember the KLA. We bow with respect to the martyrs.

As we remember the date of the proclamation of the republic, we are concerned that the leaders of the KLA are being unjustly accused because they dared to take up arms against a genocidal regime.

The accusations against them are unfounded. They do not take into account the historical and political context of our liberation war.

"Crimes against humanity against the Albanian population were committed by Milosevic's Serbia. The threat of their repetition is Vu?i?'s Serbia," said, among other things, Albin Kurti.
