From Podgorica, the delegation of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee emphasized that the closure of negotiation chapters depends on concrete results in the area of ??the rule of law.

“Parliament should speed up appointments to the judiciary, including the Constitutional Court, based on transparent procedures. This process should be a strong and credible response in the fight against corruption and organised crime, including convictions in high-level corruption cases,” said David McAllister, chair of the EP’s Foreign Affairs Committee.

McAllister emphasized that merely passing laws is not enough if they are not implemented in practice.

President Milatovi? told MEPs that the parliament has not voted on his proposals for judges for the Constitutional Court for a year. This delay, he said, jeopardizes the full functionality of this institution.
