The missile that killed Hamas leader Ismail Haniya was fired from outside Iran. This is reported by the Lebanese pro-Hezbollah news website al Mayadeen, citing an Iranian source.

"The missile used to kill Haniya in an attack on his residence in Tehran was launched from another country and not from inside Iran," the official is reported to have said.

Meanwhile, in the first official reaction of Tehran to the event, it is said that the killing of Haniya will strengthen the ties between Tehran, Palestine and the resistance.

Iran's Foreign Ministry representative Nasser Kanani also threatened those who organized the assassination, saying the blood of the slain Hamas leader "will not go to waste."

"The martyrdom of Haniya in Tehran will strengthen the deep and unbreakable bond between Tehran, Palestine and the resistance," Kanani added, according to Iranian state media.

At the same time, the representative of Iran's Supreme National Security Council stated that the killing of Haniya "was a despicable act and that its perpetrators will receive the answer they deserve."
