The US President, Joe Biden, has guaranteed Israel that America will supply it with whatever weapons it needs, to develop its defense against the attacks of the terrorist group Hamas.

He has asked Congress to take "urgent action" to fund the national security requirements of critical US partners.

"We will ensure that Israel does not run out of these critical assets to protect its cities and citizens. This has nothing to do with party or politics. It's about the security of our world," Biden said.

Biden has described Hamas as bloodthirsty, whose attacks are reminiscent of the most horrific atrocities committed by ISIS. He condemned Hamas for over 1,000 civilians killed, including 14 American citizens. He also confirmed that American citizens were among those being held by Hamas.

"Hamas does not support the Palestinian people. They used the Palestinian people as human shields," says Biden.

During his speech, President Biden warned those who might try to profit from the conflict and affirmed US support for Israel.

"Let there be no doubt. Israel has the support of the US. We will make sure that the Jewish and democratic state of Israel can defend itself, today, tomorrow, as we always have. It's that simple. Anyone thinking of taking advantage of this situation, I have one word: Don't. We stand by Israel," said Biden.

President Biden maintains that Israel will have what it needs to respond to the attack.

However, he also requested that, fundamentally, the rule of law and the law of war be respected, as far as the protection of Palestinian civilians is concerned.
