Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he hopes all hostages held in Gaza will be released within the coming days, while warning that Hamas will completely disarm.

In a public statement, Netanyahu thanked "his dear friend, President Donald Trump" for the strong military support that, according to him, was crucial in reaching the agreement to release the hostages.

"It was diplomatic and military pressure that forced Hamas to release the hostages," Netanyahu said, adding that Israel's negotiating team had been sent to Egypt to finalize the "technical details" of the deal, the BBC reports.

"Hamas will disarm by any means"

Netanyahu stressed that after the hostages are released, Israel's priority will be the disarmament of Hamas and the demilitarization of Gaza.

"In the second phase, Hamas will be disarmed and Gaza will be demilitarized, either the easy way or the hard way, but it will happen," he said.

The Israeli prime minister's statements come after news that Hamas has agreed to release hostages as part of a peace plan proposed by the United States. US President Donald Trump has warned the militant group to "act quickly, otherwise any deal will fall apart."

Tel Aviv moves to release hostages

Thousands of people gathered in Tel Aviv this evening, in a large protest demanding the release of hostages held in Gaza and an end to the war.

Crowds filled Hostages Square, carrying Israeli flags and photos of hostages, in an emotionally charged atmosphere.

Many of the participants also held banners addressed to US President Donald Trump, with messages such as "We love Trump" and "Trump save us, end the war now."

The crowd erupted in chants of "Why are they still in Gaza? Bring everyone home now!" and "Until everyone returns, we are all hostages!".

As Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statement was broadcast live on giant screens, former hostages and their families took to the podium to demand immediate action.

Omer Shem Tov, one of the survivors of the Nova festival, kidnapped by Hamas militants two years ago, led the calls for “Bring them home!” He made a public appeal to the US President to ensure the implementation of the agreement to release the hostages.

"We have to make sure this deal happens. We have to make sure Hamas signs it. It's been two years. The whole world is watching us," he said.

Israeli president calls for immediate action

At the same time, Israeli President Isaac Herzog issued a statement on the X platform calling on Netanyahu to accelerate the implementation of the peace plan proposed by President Trump.

Herzog wrote, “These hours and days are a moment of opportunity. I hope they open a window for the return of the hostages and for a complete transformation of reality in the Gaza Strip and throughout the Middle East.”

The atmosphere in Tel Aviv remains tense but hopeful. Citizens are demanding a quick and lasting solution, while the world is closely watching developments that could determine the future of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Hostages, diplomatic pressure and the future of Gaza

Hamas has requested additional negotiations on some issues of the US plan, but has not yet responded to core demands, including complete disarmament and giving up any role in governing Gaza.

This move is seen as an attempt to test the limits of the agreement and gain international guarantees, while Tel Aviv insists that any agreement must include the destruction of Hamas's military capabilities.

Diplomats in Cairo and Washington are meanwhile trying to maintain the momentum of the peace process, in a tense climate where any public statement from either side could directly affect the progress of the negotiations.
