The Foreign Minister, Bujar Osmani, will be the Albanian candidate for President of the Democratic Union for Integration in the April 24 elections in North Macedonia.

It was announced by the leader of this party, Ali Ahmeti, who, through a video message, described it as the most appropriate candidacy, while emphasizing that Russia poses a threat to North Macedonia and the Balkan region.

"Bujari has proven himself on the local and international stage and has helped in the battle against Russia, as well as being part of our team for the amendment of the Constitution, membership in NATO and the start of negotiations for membership in the European Union", said Ahmeti.

Ahmeti warned at the same time of another battle of his party, which is the one for changing the Constitution, demanding that the new president is no longer elected by the people, but by the Parliament, with the aim that he be consensual.

"With Bujar we are starting the most important referendum of the time and the next battle to win your trust to elect the president in the Assembly with a majority of two-thirds of the votes and with Badinter, to realize our vision of a consensual president", he said. Ahmeti.

Ahmeti emphasized that his party will not be a part of the government after the parliamentary elections, if the request to amend the Constitution is not accepted. The presidential elections are held in two rounds, the second round is on May 8, which coincides with the parliamentary elections.
