Balkans 'non grata' from US meets Putin in St Petersburg
Milorad Dodik and Vladimir Putin

Bosnia and Herzegovina's tripartite presidency member Milorad Dodik met in St Petersburg with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Information about the meeting between them was published late on 17 June on Dodik's official Twitter account.

Dodik participated in the plenary session of the International Economic Forum, in which Putin spoke.

No Western officials were present at the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg.

Also on June 16, Dodik spoke to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Milorad Dodik, who is also head of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, the main party in Republika Srpska, has repeatedly said that he defends neutrality when it comes to the war in Ukraine.

Dodik announced on 12 June that he "will not allow the signing of any political document naming conflicts in Ukraine in any way" during a meeting between representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH) political parties and European Council President Charles Michel.

Bosnia and Herzegovina joined sanctions against Russia under the Foreign Policy Strategy and obligations under the Stabilisation and Association Agreement.

According to official information published on the European Council website, BiH has been "harmonised with the European Union" in sanctioning hundreds of individuals and companies from Russia.
