An MP receives 3 times the minimum wage only diet and expenses

The minimum wage in Albania is 32,000 lek, but Albanians pay an average of one MP only for diet, expenses and fuel about three times the minimum wage.

The publication of the rewards data that has benefited the overwhelming share of the Assembly's deputies has highlighted a major problem in terms of mPs' expenses.

According to this diet data, fuel and telephone MPs spent about 110,000 euros in February, or about 13 million leks. Divided by 140, as many as the number of Deputies in the Assembly for February on average one MP has cost citizens 785 euros, or about 90 thousand leks.

These are the benefits of MPs besides pay, which is also more than three times higher than the average citizen's salary.

The other problem is not only payment, but also doubts about whether these fuel payments, or other phone and diet expenses are reasoned and justified, meaning whether mPs have really travelled, spoken on the phone or met so often citizens as to deserve this money.

Artan Fuga raises doubts.

"Look, look! If we consider that they eat and drink in a day on a diet of 50,000 dollars, it falls to them to have stayed 15 days of service during the month of February. That in hotels and motels they don't have to stay because Albania has a surface tray! Where's the oil, man? They have an official agenda of which electors have met, what objective have they had, what issue have they resolved? What do they prove were serviced and not for eels, fish, women, fun, corners, bones, etc. How can anyone charge them?" he writes.

Fuga adds that the Assembly is serving as an example from where other public institutions take inspiration to abuse funds. It implies that abuse can be several years old and requires transparency from the Assembly.

"Without seeing the diets of other months, what about the other years? What official document have the services, expenses proven? Does the Assembly of Albania publish the extra expenses each month of the deputies?" writes Artan Fuga.
