Ilir Banushi and Kreshnik Tepelena have been running the Vlora Seaport for many years, the first as director and the second as deputy director. They are both connected by a common thread, business, as both Banushi and Tepelena, in addition to important state positions, are also company owners. Their “experience” in the private sector has not helped them to administer state property, as every year, month, week or day, the Vlora Seaport is losing its luster.
On the one hand, the "grabbing" of the Port territory by private entities, as multi-storey buildings are being built in that territory, and on the other hand, the mismanagement of the two managers, who have not even put "water on the fire" about what is happening with salaries or the balance sheet. Dozens of employees of the Vlora Sea Port have addressed the editorial office of VoxNews, denouncing the actions of the managers.
"The employees of the Vlora Sea Port have not received their salaries for three months. These employees face scandalous working conditions every day. The port terminal is in a serious infrastructural state. Humidity has seriously damaged the premises and there is a real risk that the ceiling will collapse, putting the lives of employees, border police and passengers traveling to Italy at risk," the workers claim to our editorial office.
According to them, the employees' salaries are at ridiculous levels and insufficient to cover their living expenses. "The employees of the Port of Vlora are only demanding what is rightfully theirs, the immediate payment of arrears of salaries, urgent improvement of working conditions and respect for their human and professional dignity," said some of them.

VoxNews has learned that the entire situation in the Vlora Seaport is surreal, as the leaders are trying to bankrupt this strategic asset of Albania. This is at the expense of the state itself and the poor workers, since initially the territory of this Port was taken away, then transferred only on paper to Triport, but even there it has not yet been completed, because the concession granted has changed "hands" several times.
Our editorial team reviewed the official documents, which show that a few months ago, the General Assembly of the Vlora Sea Port approved the financial statements. It is learned that in 2024 the company made a profit of around 100 thousand euros. This profit was used to cover the loss carried forward, which results in the company having a loss of 23 million new lek by 2025.

VoxNews browsed other official data about the Port of Vlora, which operates as a joint stock company, while it was founded on March 23, 1999.
"As of December 31, 2024, the subscribed capital of the company Porti Vlorë sh.a. is 181,646,000 lek. The administrator of the company is Mr. Ilir Banushi, while the sole partner of the company is the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Energy. The main activity of the Company is the coordination of commercial activities within the port territory, construction, management, storage of facilities within the port, unloading of goods on behalf of legal and state entities," the documents state.
It is learned that the largest part of the budget goes to salaries and bonuses, in figures that go up to about 1 million euros per year. In 2023, the company had 110 employees, while by the end of 2024, 99 people worked at the Port of Vlora. "Part of the Board of Directors are Ilir Banushi and Kreshnik Tepelena, while the Supervisory Board is made up of Bejko Late, Krist Bonjaku, Oriana Arapi and Lilika Radovicka," the document states.

But who are the 2 directors who are bankrupting the Vlora Sea Port? VoxNews learns that director Ilir Banushi owns a company called "IDE 360", while he has stated that his wife also has a private business. Before taking office, he declared low income, while as soon as he took office as director, the family's finances have flourished, to the point that one of his sons has even dealt with cryptocurrencies.
Meanwhile, Deputy Director Kreshnik Tepelena is an even more well-known name in Vlora, having been prosecuted and investigated several times by the Vlora Prosecutor's Office for abuse of previous duties. Tepelena is known as the cousin of Afrim Shehu, a fugitive businessman who claims to own half of Vlora.
Tepelena owns 3 businesses, while his name is associated with a large area of ??property, sandy and forested area in Zvërnec. With connections to people with criminal records or political connections, Tepelena has threatened people who used the beaches with permission from the Coastal Agency.
Years pass and both Banushi and Tepelena, with the aforementioned connections or exploits, continue to run the Vlora Seaport, leading it towards the abyss, all to the detriment of the state itself and hundreds of workers.
