State Police co-operation with international law enforcement agencies and partner and allied countries has been among the priorities of all names that have run blue uniforms over the years. But none of them have had in the first year of office the pace of visits and meetings with internationals like the current director, Gledis Nano.
Coming to the task in October last year, Nano has been engaged in several visits to the US, Germany, Italy, Greece, Spain and as far as Israel. Besides the amount of these visits, even the meetings of the head of the State Police are of quality than those of his predecessors at the top of the blue uniforms.
In the U.S. he met with FBI Chief Christopher Wray. The meetings also took place with Deputy Assistant Attorney General and Justice Department International Affairs Adviser Bruce Sartz, The Administration for the Implementation of NarcoticAffairs (DEA) Chief Of External Operations George Papadopoulos and International Director of Narcoticaffairs and Law Enforcement (INL) for Europe and Asia, Kate. Szpila, as well as other senior executives from the State Department's Bureau of Diplomatic Security.
Even in Germany meetings have been at the highest levels of the German federal police. Nano is hosted at the meeting by German Federal Crime Office (BKA) President Holger Münch and Vice President of Germany's Federal Crime Office (BKA), Martina Link.
The same has happened in Italy, where in addition to meetings across the Adriatic, italian police head Lamberto Giannini himself visited Tirana, where he was hosted by Gledis Nano as part of the declaration of understanding signed between the two sides, for the establishment of joint technical tables among the two countries' senior police leaders.
Also in Spain, Greece and Israel, the Director-General of the State Police had meetings at the highest levels of order bodies in the respective countries. Visits show that with or inadvertently, Gledis Nano has become the international image of the Albanian Police and started from the high level of names that have awaited it can be said that the image of blue uniforms off-limits has improved.
As for co-operation, a set set by Gledis Nano with partners and the international law enforcement agency is enough to mention the fact that in just 8 months in office a series of joint operations have been carried out with the Italian, Greek and German police. These operations show that international trust in the State Police under the direction of Gledis Nano has been restored.
