When SPAK has until October 20 for the "Balluku" file, special prosecutors are intensifying the investigations by continuing to summon officials who were subordinates of former minister and former deputy prime minister Belinda Balluku.
The turn to appear before SPAK was that of the former director of the Albanian Road Authority, Ergys Verdho, and Viola Haxhiademi, the former secretary general of the Ministry of Infrastructure, also a former subordinate of Balluk.
And as a year passes since the registration of the case against the former official who was named as a defendant for several tenders, a source close to the investigative group told Top Channel journalist Anila Hoxha that the list of people who have been named as defendants by SPAK is long, starting with Balluku, Evis Berberi, Gentian Gjylin, Genti Raca, Erald Elezi, Jonida Cece, Ardian Kroni, Denis Xhoxhi, Eduart Agalliu, Arbër Troka, Miranda Shkurta, Dhurata Lazaj, Nikollaq Mihali, Gëzim Noni, Arlinda Gordani, Jetmira Dervishi and Mirzeta Kashnica, some of whom are being informed of the charges due to deadlines.
The others continue to be under investigation, with SPAK expanding its property investigations, seizing two villas suspected of having been obtained through corruption, having been hidden and not declared, and according to the scheme uncovered by SPAK, suspicions are that another suspect, Igli Tare, businessman Arbër Abazi, was used in the scheme, while other businessmen are not excluded.
While the Court of Appeal has upheld both seizures of Belinda Balluku's villas, it is continuing to question suspects involved in tenders, whose winners are suspected of being predetermined, violating the equality of tenders.
SPAK has not yet decided when it will summon the former deputy prime minister, currently a member of parliament, against whom several charges are pending, which initially started with just one, that of tenders, and were added to suspicions of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets.
