The Ministry of Justice has issued a response on social media regarding the resignation of the Director General of Prisons, Adriatik Kupi. The ministry writes that Kupi was dedicated to leading the penitentiary system during these months. Further in the response, it is announced that the ministry is continuing with the procedures for the new director.

"Today I accepted the resignation of Mr. Adriatik Kupi from the position of Director General of Prisons. I thank Mr. Kupi for the dedication with which he led the penitentiary system during these months, as our objective is to strengthen security in penal institutions."

The General Directorate of Prisons continues to function normally, while the procedures for appointing the new director will be followed according to the law.

"Work continues for a safe penitentiary system, where every person is treated with dignity and in full respect of their rights," the Ministry of Justice wrote in a post.
