Interior Minister Ervin Demo has once again reacted strongly to the violent protest in Tirana, claiming that behind the acts of destruction are political circles that are trying to exploit the students' dissatisfaction.
In his statement, the Minister of Interior also mentions the influence of foreign individuals through social networks, while warning that those responsible for the burning and damage to public and private property will face the law.
In the end, he closes by saying that "they know much more" about this situation, but for now this reaction is sufficient.
Reaction of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ervin Demo:
Today, all of Albania saw that in the name of students, the oldest politics of this country, which gives up but does not give up, spoke with the language of destruction, fires, and raids on public and private property.
Not only those who threw stones today with the hands of the blind who had put forward, but also the malicious hands of foreigners, who have entered this country through social networks since June, joined forces.
They came together to challenge our calm and patience.
They came together with an ominous scenario, taking advantage of the natural desire of students for progress and the natural impatience of the younger generation for the speed of progress. As someone who came to politics from the University auditorium and who has no intention of behaving like a professor tonight, I want to say to the students involved in this vortex, first of all those in medicine, who come from the ranks of the best students: I, the Prime Minister, our government, the Socialist Party, have been and are always with you and for you! Even when you are not with us, do not vote for us or think differently from us, we are here for you! Because we do not see you in any case and for any reason as opponents, but only as heirs of a national relay race that tomorrow will be yours.
What kind of Albania do you want to inherit, the one we are building or the one we inherited destroyed, at the hands of precisely those who, with a set of masks on their foreheads, are doing their best to bring chaos and insecurity back to Albania?
The government is always open to you, the Pact for the University was born thanks to a protest by your predecessors in the auditoriums and is an open book, to write other chapters, with dialogue not with stones. If you want faster progress, this is the path and not the one of the last 48 hours, which was designed by evil minds that have nothing to do with you.
To today's arsonists and destroyers of public and private property, I say, back off before it's too late, because between the enthusiasm of destruction in a crowd of masked people and individual responsibility before the law, the latter may be delayed but will not be forgotten.
Today, I would like to thank all State Police employees for their professionalism and self-restraint, in extremely difficult conditions of endless provocations, as well as under completely dishonest media pressure, where the hair of the police becomes a beam and the beam of violent masks becomes a student!
To the citizens of Tirana, I say please be patient, even though the flames on the doors of the ministries, which have not been seen in this city even in major historical crises, may seem like a weakness of the state. No, they are not, whoever ordered those flames has made the wrong calculations, aiming to drag us into an ominous scenario for Albania, which we will dismantle with calm and patience.
We know much more than we can share with you tonight, but it is important for you to know that this violent attempt has no chance of turning Albania back, neither into the evil hands of those who cooked it up nor into the dark time of ugliness that has reappeared before us as a ghost of the past.
