With an offer of about 1.38 billion ALL, excluding VAT, the Albanian Road Authority has announced the winning companies that will carry out the first phase of the expansion of the Tirana - Durrës highway. The winner was declared the consortium of two companies, more specifically, Bami Holding and Curri, as the limit fund made available for this tender was about 1.67 billion ALL, excluding VAT. Meanwhile, for the second phase of the expansion of this road axis, for which the tendering procedure was also opened, the winner has not been announced yet.

These two procedures include the expansion of the Tirana - Durrës highway in the first 5 km, starting from Tirana to the Rinas overpass. The tender documents specify that the works are expected to last 19 months from the moment of signing the contract. At the same time, it is specified that after the expansion of the highway, the speed allowed for the circulation of vehicles will be 90-140 km/h. According to the project, the highway will be increased by 2 lanes in each direction, bringing the total to 8 lanes.

Meanwhile, in parallel, the Albanian Road Authority has also announced the winning company for the reconstruction of the old Kombinat - Ndroq - Plepa road, lot 1, which is an alternative road for the Tirana - Durrës axis. The winner of this contract was declared the union of the operators "Arifaj" and Eurokos Holding", with an offer of about 568 million ALL, excluding VAT. The intervention in these road axes is intended to bring an improvement in terms of traffic, which currently presents numerous problems. This is not only for the citizens, but also for the buses that operate along it.
