From June 20, the new 5-lek coin enters circulation, a few days ago, 10-lek was also reprinted.

Starting from June 20, 2024, the Albanian metal coins with a nominal value of 5 Lek, legal tender, issued in 2023, will be put into circulation.

The Bank of Albania announces that the metal coins will have the same composition, appearance, size and weight as the last issue of this denomination. The difference from the previous coins of the same denomination lies in the year of issue printed on the body of the metal coin, which in the new coins will be "2023".

From June 20, 2024, metal coins with a nominal value of 5 Lek, legal tender, issued in 2023, will be used as a means of payment in parallel with all existing metal coins in circulation of this denomination, issued in previous years.

A few days ago, metal coins with a nominal value of 10 lek, with a legal tender, issued in 2023, were put into circulation. Even in this case, the change from the last issue is the year of issue printed on the body of the metal coin, which in the new coins is "2023".
