Inflation for this beginning of the year increased by 1.9%, but despite the minimal increase, food prices continue to rise beyond this level.
INSTAT reports that the annual change in the consumer price index in January is 1.9%, a year ago this change was 3.4%.
The largest impact on the annual increase in inflation was provided by the group of prices for "Food and non-alcoholic beverages", which increased by 2.6%.
Meanwhile, entertainment and culture, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, maintenance and home appliances, as well as clothing and footwear, have also experienced increases, with price increases for these groups ranging from 3.3% to 5.7%.
Meanwhile, within the food price group, out of about 41 products that are the basis of consumption in the country, 29 of them, according to INSTAT, have increased.
This is also affected by the crisis in the agricultural sector, with the decline in livestock numbers, but also the decline in domestic production.
The INSTAT report notes that within the food group, the prices of the "meat" subgroup had the largest increase of 4.0%, followed by the "milk, cheese and eggs" subgroups with 3.3%, then "vegetables" with 3.0% and "fish" with 2.0%.
In addition to the annual increase, consumers have also encountered monthly increases in the prices of food baskets, so from December to January, INSTAT reports that they increased by 0.9%.
