A few days after Prime Minister Edi Rama announced a power cut during the summer season, Konfindustria has opposed such an initiative.

In the official reaction made, it is said that there can be no government initiative to increase the price of electricity without having an in-depth professional analysis on the current management of the energy system.

It is further argued that such an initiative can only be undertaken when the energy potentials of the country have been used without corruption and with professional efficiency, adding that something like this has not happened since the financial damage of the mismanagement of the energy system is more than 100 euros in year.

Confindustria's Full Feedback:

Confindustria opposes any government initiative to increase the price of energy for businesses and citizens without an in-depth preliminary professional analysis of the current state and management of the energy system. Only if it is judged that the local energy potentials have been fully used with professional efficiency and without corruption, it is possible to undertake initiatives to increase the price of energy.

According to the data of official institutions, the losses from mismanagement of the energy system in the first 3 months of 2023, which include thefts and technical losses, amount to over 25.1% of the total amount thrown into the network from 8%, which should have been. The public financial damage from the above is more than 100 million euros/year.

On September 23 of last year, the Energy Regulatory Authority approved the government's decision for the entry into force of the 800kwh electric band to cope with the crisis. All those businesses that passed this threshold set by the government would pay the real price of electricity that Sipss Ramës has been afforded by the government without burdening Albanian consumers on their electricity bills. The debate on the installation of the electric bandage is expected to return during the summer season of this year, where according to the government's forecasts, energy consumption is expected to increase significantly.
