The newest system used in Intermedica for helicobacter pylori detection.
Accurate, non-invasive and rapid testing to diagnose Helicobacter Pylori (the main cause of stomach and duodenus ulcers).
The breath test is used:
To detect active cases of pylori infections.
To determine whether a patient has been actively infected with pylori, before and after therapy. The positive result of the C14 breath test only indicates that the patient has been actively infected with Helicobacter Pylori.
The breath test can avoid patients with pylori positive serology (but no signs of active infection) being unnecessarily treated with antibiotics. The C14 breath test (UBT) only results positive in patients with active presence of Helicobacter Pylori.
Monitoring the effectiveness of treatment
The C14 Urea Breath Test is generally accepted as the most suitable non-invasive test for determining the presence or disappearance of H. pylori. Even after successful treatment, serology can remain positive for 6 months or longer and will not tell for sure whether or not the body's elimination after treatment has been achieved. C14 testing can determine the disappearance of H. pylori just 4-6 weeks after treatment.
Exam conditions:
The Urea Breath Test is performed in the morning and you have spent at least 6 hours sober. The patient should not have smoked or consumed coffee, performed physical activity and taken gastroprotectors or other medications 12 hours before the examination. In addition, the examination should be performed at least 3 months after the end of the antibiotic treatment.
