The IMF said it is against fiscal peace, arguing that the government has made significant progress in recent years in strengthening revenue administration in line with IMF advice, but stressed that there are fears that some elements could undermine Albania's progress in tax administration and create risks.

What is your stance on fiscal peace and how healthy do you think it is for the economy?

IMF: We have seen the latest draft of the proposed fiscal peace package. We note that the government has made significant progress over the past few years in strengthening revenue administration in line with IMF advice. We are concerned that some of the elements of the draft proposal could undermine Albania’s recent progress in tax administration and create some compliance and fairness risks.
