Prime Minister Edi Rama held a public hearing today with the residents of Unit 5 in Tirana, where he spoke about the increase in pensions, salaries and the special budget for healthcare.

Rama emphasized that the government is determined to continue supporting the needy and public administration employees, describing this as a mandate in dedication to working people.

"Pensioners will receive the bonus they received and were promised, this year too, before the New Year," Rama declared.

According to him, the bonus distribution will take place before the holidays, while a progressive increase in pensions will begin from January 2026.

"The full urban pension will be 40 thousand lek, while the rural one will be 18 thousand lek. Pensions will increase every month and every year, and will be indexed regularly," said the prime minister, adding that a considerable amount will be spent year after year on the indexation of pensions alone.

According to him, in the next four years, 1.7 billion euros will be invested for pensioners alone, calling this a sign of the government's care for the elderly.

Rama did not leave out his political opponents, saying that the work of the majority is "mocked by those who only lose election after election, because they do not understand that the Albanian people vote for work, not for insults."

Regarding salaries, the prime minister announced a significant increase, underlining that from January 2026 the minimum wage will be 500 euros and for the first nine months, for employees with the minimum wage, insurance will be covered by the government.

"Within the mandate, the minimum wage will reach 700 euros," said the head of government, adding that the salaries of doctors, teachers and police officers will also increase.

In his speech, Rama also spoke about a special budget for cancer patients, emphasizing that every patient will be treated with dignity and care.

"Every cancer patient in Albania will be considered our person. We have determined a special budget for drug coverage and we will establish the National Institute for Tumors," the prime minister said.

He added that this project will be led by the Minister of Health, whom he described as "one of the best health personalities in the world", while he announced that Albania is collaborating with the Israeli Oncology Hospital, the eighth best in the world. "We will transform the QSUT into a reference center for the national health service", Rama added.

Prime Minister Edi Rama also spoke about the situation in the Municipality of Tirana, saying that despite what is happening with Veliaj's court cases, Tirana should not be penalized in everyday matters.

"We have a problem with the budget for the Municipality of Tirana, but Tirana has no reason to pay for the fact that there is a mayor in prison, without trial. The work should not be left in the middle, but will have to be taken forward in Tirana as well," said the prime minister.
