The European Union has allocated a package of 80 million euros for Albania to face the energy crisis.

As he assessed this as a significant amount, Prime Minister Rama in the joint statement with the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that Albania needs 6 times more money in order not to intervene in the price of energy.

"80 million euros is not little, it is a significant figure. However, these are a sixth. This year we needed a total of 460 million euros to maintain the price of energy at these levels. It is a staggering amount for the entirety of our budget, but it is an amount that has also affected inflation.

Albania today has the lowest inflation in the region and the main reason for inflation in the region is the fact that we have a financial shield for the price of energy. If we had relativized this shield. If we had touched the price even a little, then this would have reflected immediately on all families", said Rama.

Rama said this Thursday during the joint press conference with the President of the EC, Ursula von der Leyen, that the government will not increase the price of electricity. He emphasized that the setting of the 800 KW band is not an increase in the price of energy. He said that there are two parameters that will determine whether a ban will be imposed for the month of November, savings and rainfall.

"I hear the repeated question, will you give up the increase in the price of energy? We will not increase the price of energy. We never said this. Putting on a bandage is not an increase in the price of energy. It is the establishment of a ceiling below which every family can fulfill all basic needs, all without exception, without needing more. In over 1 million family subscribers, 1.2 to be precise, there are a maximum of 60 thousand families that are found to be above this ceiling for heating or cooling. This is another thing compared to the vocabulary increase in the price of energy. Also for this part, but especially for the psychological factor and definitely also to create a filter against all the lies and all the fabrications, to all the daily poisoning of the opinion with untruths that have terrorized a whole mile that the price of energy will increase, a lie of the greatest possible proportions, we have postponed the application of the bandage for the month of October, not because we wanted to, because yes if it were for what we want, salaries would have been doubled, pensions would have been doubled and so on. But because there were two prerequisites. First, we had rain, not as much as we would like, but enough to consider it as an opportunity, and second, we saw a decrease in consumption, which means a positive behavior for saving. Currently we are seeing it every day in terms of rainfall, we don't have much to see because the sky shines every day from the sun, so the news is bad, the day is good. As for savings, we again see positivity. We have reduced consumption. If it is reasonably saved, the possibility to act differently with the bandage is created. This absurd alarm here completely ignores the fact that the 800 kilowatt band has long been established in the neighboring republic of Kosovo, and without conditions. It does not appear to us that it has affected all the people of Kosovo", said Rama.
