The final draft for the Criminal Amnesty already deposited in the Assembly has expanded the number of beneficiaries, while according to experts' estimates, it is calculated that the state coffers will be saved a total value of nearly 5 million euros.
In contrast to the initial draft, which provided for the amnesty of 572 convicts, the final document increases their number to 620. According to it, men sentenced to imprisonment of up to 3 years or any other type of punishment benefit and are exempted from serving the sentence more lenient, including a fine or one of the types of prison sentence alternatives, for sentences given until 30.11.2023, regardless of the time remaining from the sentence.
It also benefits men sentenced to imprisonment, who, until the date of entry into force of this law, have not suffered from this sentence for up to 3 years. Also convicted men who, on the date of entry into force of this law, are equal to or over the age of 60.
Meanwhile, women sentenced to imprisonment for up to 4 years or any other type of lighter punishment, including a fine or one of the alternatives to imprisonment, for sentences given up to the date of 30.11.2023, regardless of the time remaining from the sentence. Likewise, convicted women, who, on the date of entry into force of this law, are equal to or over the age of 50. Likewise, persons sentenced to imprisonment, who, at the time of committing the criminal offense, were equal to or under the age of 18.
Criminal offenses that are excluded from the amnesty remain unchanged in the document. No person responsible for acts of corruption, abuse of office, economic crime, illegal constructions or land grabbing will benefit from a reduced sentence or pardon.
