Massive fire at apartment complex, firefighters rescue residents

The number of people injured in the fire that engulfed a building in the "Farmacia 10" area in Tirana has risen to 5. Among the injured are two citizens and three firefighters.

The situation at the scene is critical. The fire has reached large proportions and is spreading rapidly, making the work of firefighters difficult.


Some residents were brought down by ladders by firefighters. The situation seems problematic, as inert objects have also fallen from the upper floors, during the delicate operation to rescue the citizens.

To bring the flames under control, helicopters from the Ministry of Interior have also been deployed to assist the forces on the ground, dropping water from the air to curb the spread of the fire.


The causes of the fire are currently unclear. At least from what can be easily seen, the flames initially engulfed the facade of the building, a new construction in the area.

In a very short time, the fire grew to large proportions, causing plumes of smoke to be visible even from a great distance.
