The medical examiner's report has confirmed that 25-year-old Albanian Kevin Muharremi died from a single bullet to the right side of his neck. The bullet, one of those fired from a 6.75 caliber Beretta semi-automatic weapon, caused very severe damage to his spine, then affecting the spinal cord at the C2 and C3 vertebrae.
As a result, the nerve pathways were interrupted, causing respiratory paralysis and internal bleeding, which led to the death of the 25-year-old on the night of February 14 on the Boulevard della Repubblica in Montecalvoli.
The document presents the results of the autopsy carried out on March 13 by the specialist who, after confirming Muharrem's death on the day of the murder, was tasked with carrying out further examination of the body by the substitute prosecutor of the Pisa Prosecutor's Office, Fabio Pelosi, who is leading the investigations.
The murder suspect
The suspect in the murder is Renato Xyke, 20, also an Albanian from Santa Maria a Monte (defended by lawyer Giuseppe Carvelli). He has been in prison since the day of the deadly attack and is being held in Arezzo, where he was caught while on the run with his family, driving the same Range Rover Evoque from which he did not deny shooting at Muharrem.
The latter was in the passenger seat aboard a white Fiat Doblò, where he was found without signs of life.
The tragic climax of a clash that had lasted all evening and that, according to investigators, could have started a long time ago. A few hours before the shooting, there had been a violent conflict between the suspected murderer and the victim, along with the respective groups, which erupted inside a club in Capanne, Montopoli, and then continued in the parking lot.
Afterwards, there were allegedly telephone contacts between the two parties, until what turned out to be a truly deadly encounter on the Boulevard della Repubblica. The murder of the victim is believed to have occurred at 05:25, about half an hour before the shooting.
The fatal bullet, found in the 25-year-old's body, was located not far from the point of entry, having pierced the black jacket the victim was wearing. The bullet head was positioned on the side and back, in relation to the second cervical vertebra.
Muharrem was also hit by another bullet, which struck him tangentially between the forearm and the wrist of his right hand. A wound that the medical examiner considers insignificant in relation to the victim's cause of death.
There were probably more than six shots, as there are holes left in the front of the Doblò vehicle's bodywork.
Xyke is not the only person under investigation. In the car with him was also an 18-year-old Albanian resident of Montecalvoli, who is currently at large. In recent months, he has appeared in person at the Prosecutor's Office, together with his lawyer Giulio Parenti, to give his version of events.
Meanwhile, investigations continue, waiting for the picture of the incident to become clear enough to move on to the preliminary court hearing./ Il Tirreno
