Zvërnec

A large-scale fire engulfed the Soda Forest in Vlora this afternoon, creating a dense cloud of smoke that covered a good part of the city.

The fire has broken out in a pine forest, near the railway line in the Zvërnec area, while smoke is visible from several neighborhoods of Vlora.

Immediately after the alarm was raised, police forces and fire services rushed to the area, working to isolate and extinguish the flames.

According to preliminary data, the situation appears difficult due to the spread of the fire in an area with dense vegetation and the wind that favors the advance of the flames.

Currently, five fires are active simultaneously in Vlora, which has made it difficult to divide forces on the ground.

In addition to the fire in Pyllin i Sodës, interventions are also being carried out in Dukat, near the Llogara tunnel, in the Mall Park area and in Triport.

The cause of the fire and the area engulfed by the flames are not yet known, while authorities continue the operation to bring the situation under control.
