The two brothers Shpëtim and Roland Cani, 43 and 41 years old, appeared before the Durrës court today, who were caught a few days ago with 25,000 liters of contraband oil inside their trawler "LEON".

The judge of the session Paulin Çera assessed the arrest of the brothers as legal and imposed the security measure "arrest in prison" for 20 days for Shpëtim Cani, the ship's captain, and an obligation to appear for his brother, Roland Cani, part of the ship's crew.

The brothers were arrested on September 7 after the fishing vessel was caught in the open sea with over 25,000 liters of oil. The high price of oil in our country has allegedly activated the trade in smuggled fuel in Lebanon, where in the summer the price of fuel, according to fishermen's statements, was $0.25 per liter.

Days after a fishing vessel was seized, authorities have not yet been able to weigh the amount of fuel in its tanks. First it was said about 50 thousand liters of oil, and then in the Police communique it was said 25 thousand liters.
