Tragic / Albanian dies after having hair transplanted in Turkey
Mentor Rama

A tragic event has occurred in Turkey, where a 36-year-old Albanian man lost his life in Istanbul after undergoing a hair transplant and dental treatment.

Mentor Rama had been staying at a hotel in the Sisli area, near the clinic where he had the transplant. A day later, he underwent a dental procedure, but then collapsed unconscious in the hotel. The 36-year-old British citizen was rushed to Seyrantepe Hamidiye Etfal Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at around 4:30 p.m. on November 11.

After the autopsy, his body was handed over to his family and returned to his hometown. Turkish authorities have launched an investigation into the case.

The low cost of cosmetic procedures is attracting more and more British citizens to Turkey, where a hair transplant can cost around £1,500, far less than the £10,000-plus in the UK, British media reports.
In 2022 alone, around 150,000 Britons travelled to Turkey for cosmetic procedures. Doctors in the country are said to carry out around 60% of all hair transplants in the world.

In August, another 38-year-old man from Britain lost his life after traveling to Turkey for a hair transplant at a private clinic in Istanbul.
